W Polsce wszystkie dzieci uczą się tego wiersza w szkole podstawowej.
In Poland all children learn this poem in elementary schools.

Przykład/Example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8q2XE84ltok - charming kid :D

- Kto ty jesteś?
- Polak mały. / Polka mała.
- Jaki znak twój?
- Orzeł biały. / Lilia biała
- Gdzie ty mieszkasz?
- Między swemi.
- W jakim kraju?
- W polskiej ziemi.
- Czem ta ziemia?
- Mą Ojczyzną.
- Czem zdobyta?
- Krwią i blizną.
- Czy ją kochasz?
- Kocham szczerze.
- A w co wierzysz?
- W Polskę wierzę!

Translation (I hope this makes sense ;) )

-Who are you?
-Little Pole (Polish child)
-What is your symbol?
-White eagle/White lily (boys say "white eagle" and girls "white lily")
-Where do you live?
-Among their compatriots
-In which country?
-On Polish land
-What is the land?
-My native land
-How acquired? (I do not know it is correctly)
-Blood and scar
-Do you love your native land?
-I love sincerely
-And what you believe?
-I believe in Poland

I really like this poem. It's a simple words but beautifully speaks (?) about important matters.
Actually, this poem has four more verses but they are often overlooked.

-Who are you for your native land?
-Grateful child
-What do you owe your native land?
-My lives (implicitly: fight for your country)

Ja bym nie brała tego tak dosłownie. Myślę, że orzeł czy też lilia nie oznaczają dosłownie godła. To tylko symbole. Orzeł - męstwa, siły, odwagi, a lilia - czystości, niewinności i dobra. Cech pożądanych u mężczyzn i kobiet.

I wouldn't take this so literally. I think eagle or lily don't mean literally the national emblem. These are just symbols. Eagle is a symbol of bravery, courage, strength, and lily is a symbol of chastity, purity and good. Characteristics desired in men and women ;)

eastern - Easter? Wielkanoc?

I think you mean Christmas ;-) Then we meet with family, eat and talk. On Christmas Eve table should be 12 dishes and everyone should taste all.

On Easter we meet with the family too. But i never heard about the tradition of 10 dishes for Easter.

You know, actually, in every region of Polish Easter is celebrated a little differently.
In my voivodeship (Kuyavian-Pomeranian) Easter Bunny bringing gifts to children, mostly they are candy. Gifts are hidden and the children have to find them.
Maniek lives in voivodeship Lodz and when I told him about this tradition he surprised because there Easter Bunny doesn't bring gifts ;)

It's just a simple example ;)

Traditional Easter dishes is żur/żurek with Weisswurst(?), mazurek and of course various dishes with eggs.

I found two sites about Easter traditions but only in Polish:
http://www.tradycje.wielk...je-wielkanocne/
http://asksa.republika.pl/wielkanoc.htm

btw. On this second side I read that if you in Holy Saturday, wash your face in the water in which boiled egg, disappear all the problems with the skin :D
So... I didn't know about this. Interesting ;D
