Antall József, the Prime Minister of Hungary died in 1993.12.12. I found a media historical video on Youtube:
The MTV (Magyar Televízió = Hungarian Television) stopped the Duck Tales, when Antall József died. This is a media historical moment.
In the video description, the uploader said that's why colored the Duck Tales, and the MTV not, becouse the Duck Tales aired in SECAM, and the others aired in PAL. But the video recorder settings setup to SECAM (or PAL).
I don't know if I saw that time. I always watch the tales block at noon when I was kid. So, I think I watched too, but I don't remember this.
That time, there are only two tv channel in Hungary: MTV1 and MTV2 (or sobriquet names: the "kingdom" channels -> Becouse no other channels )
This moment so burnt the young people's mind, becouse every kid (just like Me) watched the tales block at noon. We come home from kindergarden, firstly there's nothing in MTV1 (MTV2 sucks, becouse a lot of scientific and social program, so we hated it). After the colored lines, the MTV1 started the program with the ethnical minorities block (for example: Gipsy, Croatian, Ukrainian, Serbian). We hate it this block (not for that reason, becouse we hate this nations, no. We hate it becouse we don't understand anything. ;-)
And after that, finally comes the tales block. This moment that's why burnt in our minds, becouse everyone watched it.
This article tried to introduce a little piece of the present's Hungarian history.
It's true everyone watched it, included me! I clearly remember! :-) in addition, it was on my nameday (12.12.) And next day in school all of my classmates were talking about it. This was a huge trauma for kids :-D
For me, It wasn't scary. I liked the airplanes, and I thinked for russians the people in the snow (at 0:16) when I was a kid. Well, becouse my grandparents spoken me about the the II. World War. And spoke about the worst looking russian soldiers, whose pull out a handful worms under their sweater.
