As far as I know most of the Karpatia songs are folk songs. Once when I travelled to Erdély we listened Kárpátia on the bus and an old man (about 70) was surprised that he knew the lyrics of all songs :-D Not because he was a fan but he knew a lot of folk songs (mainly soldier's song - katonadalok) :-)
What do you think about Hungarian folk songs? I'm huge fan of them. Do you mind if i recommend some?
Sure. I would gladly hear them. :-D I am big fan of Karpatia but I don't have idea which of them are inspired by folk.

And at last a children's song, it is taught in every kindergarten. It is about a little duck who has to go to it's mother to Poland (as a child I found it very sad...poor little duck why is it's mother in Poland, why are they separated??). I know a lot of folk songs - I could sing them for an hour at least without stop - and there are no other nation amongst them we sing about, except Poles
As far as I know these are inspired by folk: Szél viszi messze, Doberdó, Hol vagytok székelyek?, valahol tőled távol…, csendes a Don, szép vagy, gyönyörű vagy Magyarország, ott ahol zúg a négy folyó,
and Hazám, hazám is from an opera (Bánk bán by Erkel Ferenc)
